Yep. Really. A Budget.

“Whether you think that you can, or that you can’t, you are usually right.”-Henry Ford

My first one looked a lot like this one. It was tough at first. It felt like….WORK. And it was. But I haven’t had to work real hard at in the eight years since we started living on one. Now it’s about refinement. It’s graduated to a lovely Excel spreadsheet. You’ve got to start somewhere. A notepad and a pencil will do just fine.

It starts like this. JUST like this. Start small and make baby steps.

  1. LOVE, LOVE your blog.
My husband & I get paid twice a month and we have our budget split by the 1st & 15th. Each “payday” he gathers the bills and our budget print out, I balance the checkbook and then we pay our bills TOGETHER and decide how much goes in the savings (luckily there’s now enough to do that) TOGETHER! This is such an important part of a marriage (ours has lasted over 30 years) so do it TOGETHER so no one partner has that stress alone!!

    • I couldn’t agree more! Our budget has been a real saving grace to our marriage. We don’t have money fights in our house and I’m grateful to have learned how to be on the same team with our money.
